Every spring, thirteen-year-old Fern and her family welcome the Thawed back into their lives. After their harsh winter of slumber, her frozen family members are bound to be a little irritable. But this spring, something has gone dangerously wrong. Her family members are hungering for the heat that only blood can provide. The Thawed no longer wear the faces of her family—they wear the faces of death. 

On borrowed time, Fern must escape the fingers of the Thawed long enough to save her sister the cold. Based on the New England legend of the Frozen Folk, this fantasy has its roots in historical fact and fiction.
