Battered and bruised after publishing a story of corruption and scandal in high places, journalist Amos Handy needs to escape London. He accepts an invitation to lodge in the house of an elderly retired M15 agent, Esmé Proudfoot. 
Tension escalates when Sammi-Rose, the daughter of a well known villain and hitman, goes missing. Amos and Esmé take it upon themselves to find her.
Will Amos ever find the peace he seeks, or will the shadows of his past continue to haunt him?
