The singularity Memory - a vast, interdimensional computer linked to human minds.  Long ago, the creators used it to imprint culture on its first colonists, but seekers now use the Memory to dominate each other.

The Memory echoes brain activity; most strongly, basal human instinct.  Seekers can create structures in the Memory, then feed them to others' minds to alter their behaviors. 
  
Eero Ialda lives in a city dominated by house seekers - women whose connection to the Memory lets them control the population. When her town's animosity against a neighboring city, Downsea, erupts into war, Eero must find a way to protect the people, and herself, from the destructive, Memory-inflicted compulsions that have ravaged her world.
