A year ago, her mother left her with a neighbor and disappeared into the night. She said she would come back one day, as long as Brenna does not break The Vow. Now the men who were hunting her mother have come looking for her too. She needs to flee. But if she runs, how will her mother find her again?

Now she is lost in the forest and the hunters are closing in. If she uses her power to survive, she breaks The Vow, and she may never see her mother again.
