June 1971, Morris is walking back to the Raven Social Club. He has giving himself another alias, “Bulletproof”, because he survived an attempted mafia execution, a shootout in a bulletproof limousine. His reflections lead back to Nicky, his friend and self-appointed leader of the gang. Nicky “Nails”, claims he can chew nails and spit bullets, is an up-and-coming Mafioso. He plans to rob the money drop of a rival mob family. The “Deliman” leaves his teenage daughter, Elizabeth, in the delicatessen as the bagmen make their drop-offs. Bulletproof seduces Elizabeth, while others sneak in and steal the money. Deliman finds out and orders him killed. The robbery exposes the Banoa family short-changed the Mafia. Joey, the older of the “Banana Brothers” (Joseph Banoa’s teenage sons), has a crush on Morris’ girlfriend, Maria. She insults him during a hit on the Raven Social Club and is killed. Morris, a feared and respected Warlord in the South Bronx, sets his sights on the Banoa family for Maria’s murder. Fourth of July, he launches a homemade rocket into the amidst of the Banoa’s fireworks display killing the younger Banoa brother. It sets the two mob families on an escalating path of war.
