Cate still feels a pull in her heart every time she thinks of Nicolás. He's the first person she loved, and the first she had to let go. Of course she's still a bit heartbroken! It makes sense she's avoided Seattle since the breakup. Even the butterflies she feels when she sees him again are logical.

The question is, how are they going to survive spending time together over the next year?

Nicolás doesn't want to see Cate again. She's the reason why they've had to live their lives apart. The same life he thought they'd have together. Now he's going to see her, and she's still the same person he loved so much.

He doesn't trust himself around her. He still wants to bend the rules just to make her happy. He needs to keep her in line or, better yet, away.

If only he followed his own advice. If only Cate didn't so desperately want to make things okay between them. If only he had a choice, when she still so clearly wanted him back.
