Carrie Summerland is happy to have left behind her terrible younger days for better new ones spent with her partner, best friend, and nature witch, Evan. Mostly, she thinks she’s gotten used to a life surrounded by his array of vampire friends and his opinionated black cat familiar, odd a bunch as they are. But, when she’s dragooned into a yellow taffeta dress as a bridesmaid and facing down a future as a spy to help out paranormal innocents, she’s suddenly not so sure. Hiding in the bathroom to get away from unicorns and line-dancing vampires, she’ll get advice from some of the oddest sources. After all, sometimes a wallflower just needs a little paranormal help. A (very) short story epilogue to Cursed in White and a prequel to Children of the Gods, (both quirky, young adult urban fantasies), this piece will explain how a girl can cope with finding happiness in very unexpected places and prepare for a future where she can spread it to others. On a Gilbert wackiness scale of 1-to-10 sarcastic talking cats*, this one is a 6. *Warning: Not all stories contain talking cats. Wackiness may take other forms.
