This prequel tells the back story of Jaime Nethersby.  The carefree, fun-loving cousin of Annabelle Sweeting hasn't always had it easy.  His childhood has been wrought with dark memories, and some questionable family gatherings. This short story gives you a glimpse on how their friendship began, how Jaime came to his current vocation, and how their family bond was made stronger than ever.

This can be read before or after The Catalyst.
