Newly promoted DCI  Allison and his sergeant, Mark Stringer embark on a tricky case in Birmingham’s old City Asylum, All Saints, where Mark encounters his first body, which has an extremely adverse effect on him. 
Two suspicious deaths reveal all is not as it seems. The hospital should be a beacon of light for the patients, to help them get well and recover enough to face the world again but investigations reveal that criminal activities are taking place in the secure unit and this is followed by a brutal murder and the escape of a deranged young woman intent on killing again.
Will the detectives uncover the full truth? Will murder be prevented? And is the name Takagi one that Allison will come across in the future?
