Norway, AD 953. The land teeters on the brink of war. As King Haakon prepares to face the threat of his nephews from Denmark, he entrusts a single warrior with a mission others would refuse.

Thorvald, battle-hardened and bound by loyalty, is sent north with a secret message for Sigurd Ladejarl… and a darker order spoken only in private. The men who burned the king’s church and butchered innocent priests must pay. Justice, or vengeance, will be carved in steel.

But in the shadow of a chieftain’s longhouse, where words are cheap and boasts run free, Thorvald must weigh his king’s will against his own conscience.
