This is a short prequel to The Secret of Everdon Manor taking place before the arrival of Ivy Wylmot. The Everdon Weekend has always been a serious affair; a re-enactment of a tragic weekend in 1903. A long-deceased predecessor had stipulated that the event takes place each year with a new female guest until a suitable woman is presented. Additionally, descendants of the involved families must attend or face dire consequences. The story expands on an event alluded to in the first book — a séance. Readers of The Secret of Everdon Manor will love the backstory with foreshadowing of later events. For new readers, this is an introduction to the Everdon family and their bizarre circumstances.
