The members of the resistance on Choam were almost ground out of existence by the vulture-like Garok -- the race from a neighboring star of their Trinary Cluster... Until a mysterious race calling themselves the Bith delivered and activated a gate that opened up access to the rest of the universe.
That was the event the Guardians of the Way needed to find help and free their people. All they had to do was get through the gate.
