Note: This is a short story, written for the September Prompt for the Ko-Fi Author Avengers. Gerdelai, the gnomish scholar, is looking forward to a quiet night in with a good book and a lovely cup of tea, but after a mishap with a plague wand, it's clear that isn't going to happen. Somehow, the scholar is transported away, and it's up to him to save a world and all the people in it. This story fits in with "The Volkdrow Chronicles" and is set at some point before "The Blade of Absolution". You can enjoy this story as a standalone, or it can be read at any point when reading this series.
