Eleven-year-old Jessa Newberry desperately wants to fit in with the popular sixth-grade girls. But while she's trying so hard to be like everyone else, her dreams are anything but normal; flying around dreamland, eating from ice cream trees, exploring candy gardens, and drinking from lava hot chocolate springs.
When Jessa reunites with Sidney Thatcher, a childhood friend who had cancer in kindergarten, they discover that they are having the exact same dream. As Jessa's waking world begins to change around her, Dreamland becomes the place she wants to be, and Sidney becomes the best friend she's always needed. But, Dreamland is in danger. Trees are melting, candy is rotting and children are disappearing. Jessa will have to face her waking and Dreamland fears if she hopes to save her friends.
