Seeking solice in a remote mountain cabin, haunted by the death of a team member in Afghanistan, Special Operations Operative Hal Bennet questions his sanity when he is awakened during a terrible storm by what appears to be a medieval knight. After making the man drop his sword, Hal invites him in out of the rain. The stranger identifies himself as Henry Lackland, son of King John, from the kingdom of Cent on the isle of Glenlock. He is confused as to where he is. The last thing he remembers is being thrown from his horse when it reared from a nearby lightning strike. Hal is sceptical of Henry's story, but the more he listens, the more he questions if maybe, just maybe, this could be true. When the storm intensifies, they step outside to see what is happening. Henry is quickly engulfed in a series of thick swirling clouds and disappears. Returning to the safety of the cabin, Hal wonders if this has all been a dream. Some form of PTSD. Until he sees Henry's sword on the floor. Haunted for a year by the strange encounter, Hal returns to the cabin. Another storm develops. He steps outside and enters the swirling clouds, and he too disappears. Upon waking on the isle of Glenlock, Hal finds himself thrown into a world populated by people of Earth's past. A world of English knights, Roman Legionaries, Vikings, and something else. A world where malevolent forces are roaming the land, destroying villages, and abducting young children. +
