After an act of self-defense makes her an outlaw, Wizard’s Apprentice Brodia flees into the fifth kingdom that fears her power. Hunted by fanatical zealots and a sadistic murderer, she must forge new alliances and master her abilities on the run. 

As her Zenii strives to clear her name amidst rising tensions against female wizards, Brodia chases after the much stronger enemy wizard who is killing teenagers for his own gratification. Her future as a Defender lies in surviving long enough to grow her magic.
