Seeking to save his beloved father, Ari formed an unsavory alliance with his enemy and the most unlikely of partners, DeMarcus, aka the Strange Man. But, unknown to Ari (though, certainly known by DeMarcus) the rules are fixed. One cannot simply undo death. In the attempt, Ari unwittingly unleashed a primal power: Abaddon, the Pale Rider of the Apocalypse, the Destroyer of Exodus fame, and the very embodiment and guardian of death. Prematurely awakened, Abaddon is bent on ending Ari and then, the world. Our Triumvirate - Ari, Mal, and Martha - finds that their gifts are ineffective against so powerful a nemesis. Abaddon is unstoppable. Still, Ari and his friends must do all they can to save him from his folly while staving off the destruction of humanity. Martha devises a plan, and they plummet through time, luring their pursuer to ancient Egypt during the time of the Plagues. It is the site of one of Abaddon's most glorious feasts, the re-enactment of which may prove enticing enough to let Ari go free. They hope. Meanwhile, Mal loyalties are torn. He aids Martha in their quest, even as he keeps Ari's darkest confidence.
