This is a short story featuring characters from the Purple Orchid novel, but you do not have to have read the novel to read this story.

Song, the beautiful Chinese manicurist and Jinni, the owner of the nail salon are lovers.     Song is working illegally in the USA after dropping out of college.   Terrified of the immigration authorities she runs away.     Just as Jinni is giving up hope of seeing her again, Song's professor father arrives from China and employs a private detective.

Song meanwhile faces jeopardy living in a large city without paperwork and a family network to support her.     Will Jinni and her father find her before tragedy happens?
