New to flying as a journeyman wizard, Brodia must rush north to save her family from the Gray Wizard. But each small success is met by a harsh personal cost, forcing the three Defenders of Vosj to coalesce inside the palace to protect the king and queen. The Count of Broditch has been planning for this. Now he has his power back, so hiding in the palace won’t be enough.

Brodia’s Zenii, Preem the Bone Crusher, picked Brodia as his apprentice because he hoped a woman would find a new way to fight. As the Count of Broditch closed in, Preem was about to see what she can do when the odds are stacked against them.
